Dialogue Creation

2008 Rocky Mountain Roundtable

In 2008, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper asked Jim Polsfut to chair a substantive, non-partisan dialogue series for the benefit of the general public during the Democratic National Convention. The 2008 Rocky Mountain Roundtable took place from August 25 through 27, consisting of ten separate symposia on education, philanthropy, climate change, health, and global poverty, among others.

A total of 150 dignitaries took part in the roundtables, including television anchor Tom Brokaw, philanthropist Ted Turner, Ambassador Andrew Young, President Mary Robinson of Ireland, Secretary Madeleine Albright, Time Magazine editor Rick Stengel, Peruvian economist Hernando de Soto, actor Ben Affleck, UN Foundation CEO Tim Wirth, and a dozen current governors, senators, and members of congress.

More than 17,000 members of the public sat in the audience for the roundtables, including 3,000 local high school students.
