In 2002, sensing a need once again for the public to engage in dialogue on the topic of North America and Mexico in particular, the consul general of Mexico in Colorado, Leticia Calzada, sought the Cordillera Foundation’s support. In response, Jim Bye and Jim Polsfut created Puente Colorado. By way of a six-luncheon series over a two year period, Puente Colorado focused exclusively on Mexico’s NGO sector. Six not-for-profit directors from Mexico traveled to Denver and spoke to audiences of 100 to 150 attendees, raising awareness in Colorado via Puente Colorado while receiving public exposure and fundraising support in the process.
